Engaging the services of Elite Nursing was the best decision we made during our mom’s eight-month medical ordeal. Although the scope of her nurses’ duties changed over time, we were always confident that their high level of competence and extraordinary compassion would meet the challenges she faced.
We initially hired Elite to care for our mom around-the-clock for a few days as she transitioned back to her apartment after six months in the hospital and rehab. Despite being a social person very much engaged in civic life as she approached 90, our mom enjoyed the solitude of her apartment at the end of the day. We feared she would not abide an intrusion into her space. Immediately, however, our mom absolutely adored every nurse assigned to care for her – especially her core group of six – with whom she developed an instant rapport. The nurses were not only skilled and professional, but they expressed genuine concern for our mom. Although their primary responsibility was to address her medical needs, they understood she needed mental stimulation and always engaged her in thoughtful and uplifting conversation. They would laugh together, which immediately set us at ease and made our mom happy while she adjusted to her retrofitted home.
Five days after her return, our mom suddenly felt sick. The nurses quickly assessed her situation and determined emergency medical care was necessary. The nurse on duty accompanied our mom to the hospital and cared for her all night, preventing her from choking in an emergency room that was severely overcrowded and understaffed. In the morning, the attending physician told our mom she was dying from inoperable sepsis. Over our mom’s six-week hospitalization, the 24/7 care administered by her Elite nursing team was exceptional. They attended to her every need: cleaning; feeding; wound, skin and nail care (so she would not scratch herself or break the skin); checking her vitals; as well as changing and repositioning her multiple times a day. And they talked with her when she awoke in the middle of the night: She knew she was not alone; because we did too, we could get some rest.
The Elite nurses built a cocoon of love in her room, not only for our mom but for our family, keeping our spirits lifted and offering emotional support. We would not have made it through this heartbreaking period without their empathetic care from the minute our mom exited rehab until the moment she took her last breath. Even after our mom’s passing, her nurses have checked in on us. We simply cannot recommend the Elite Nursing team enough.

“We are dying to tell you how grateful we are to RN Sel, RN Sunil, and all of you at Elite Nursing, for the wonderful support you provided our family at this very important time. My sister’s and her now-husband John’s wedding was an absolute smash success, bring together two large families, and it was so important to have our beloved elders there, safe and comfortable, enjoying the party, and blessing the future of our new merged family.
My father was so well looked after by both RNs Sel and Sunil, the latter who came on the scene only on the day-of, and quickly seemed like a familiar friend. These two truly wonderful human beings gave their all in a very long day and night. My father had a terrific time (didn’t want it to end!), and my mother was able to step away from her exhausting caregiver roll and embrace her mother-of-the-bride roll with joy and elegance.
My brothers too, who also normally give a great deal of their time and attention to my father’s caregiving, were able, thanks to Sel and Sunil, to be fully available to Alice and John, and to their family, during the series of events surrounding the big wedding day; all of us siblings could show up early, meet and greet, host and socialize, dance and toast, keep the party spirit going, stay to the very end of each event for the final goodnights (twice it was 2:30am!). This allowed for so much meaningful person-to-person bonding of our families over three full days, forging relationships that will last far into the future.
And amidst it all, Sel and Sunil worked with grace and style; making it almost seem as if it were easy (and we know how very hard it is!). They managed to be such pleasant guests to meet at a party, for everyone who met them, and now we feel personally connected with them as well. We hope you will pass along our immense gratitude, and giant heartfelt hugs!
It was particularly helpful to my family that we were able to have Sel come for several lead-up visits, to get to know my parents both professionally and personally. Sel is so personable and was immediately able to put my parents, who have not had much experience with in-home nursing care, at ease. His good spirits (“jolly” as my mother describes him) brightened their day and they looked forward to his visits.
